COMING MAY 2026, The Business of Being an Author
Most people write a business book with big hopes. Greatly increased credibility, attracting better, higher paying clients and creating more opportunities. And then they publish it… and not much changes.
Generally this is not because the book is awful or missed the mark (although sometimes this is the issue), but because it was never designed to do a job commercially. It was written with heart, but without a commercial strategy sitting underneath it.
I’m a commercial writer. Books are a major part of my business model. I’ve experienced first hand what a great book, built and positioned properly, and leveraged strategically, can do for a business.
A book can be one of the most powerful assets you ever create, but only when it’s written with purpose, produced to a world class standard, and leveraged wisely and consistently. Otherwise it’s simply a good idea that never gets the chance to earn its keep.
That’s why I wrote The Business of Being an Author: A 12 Step blueprint for using your book to build trust, create opportunity, and attract quality clients.
This book is for you if you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, consultant, speaker, coach, or expert who wants to write a book that actually does something, not just sit on a shelf (or even for those people who have written a book that has failed to give them the results they wanted).
Inside, I unpack what I’ve learned from three decades of writing, publishing, and building a real business around books, plus what I’ve seen and learned after helping over 1,000 first time authors get their book out into the world. No hype, hustle or shortcuts, just solid strategy, plus 150+ very practical tips you can apply immediately.
You’ll learn how to:
– Treat writing and publishing like a business, not a hobby
– Build a world class book that strengthens credibility
– Assess your book objectively, so it’s ready for leverage
– Pressure test your idea for commercial viability
– Choose the right publishing path, avoid the common mistakes
– Build a commercial author brand that makes you easier to trust
– Adopt the mindset that separates hobby authors from commercial authors
– Create a strategic product architecture so the book leads somewhere
– Leverage your book properly, and keep momentum moving
– Use credibility smartly, including media, collaborations, and bulk sales
– Build an engaged community that supports the book long term
– Stay relevant, keep evolving, and keep building
– The 12 drivers that form the “Business of Being an Author” strategy and implementation plan.
– Develop a long term plan so each book builds on the last (my 10 year publishing strategy)
This is not a book about writing a book. It’s a book about using a book to grow a business, the right way, the proven way.
Launching May 2026.

Andrew
