Pay your mate back week?

Well this is a new one – and for some reason the Commonwealth Bank have decided to drive it.

Brett Lee and David Boon are promoting “Pay your mate back week”. I don’t want to be cynical but how did they come up with the figure of $1.8 billion being owed by mates? And will the Commonwealth kindly collect this money at no charge? Mmmmm, smells funny to me, but at least it is keeping a few of our cricketing legends in gainful employment.

(NOTE – The Commonwealth Bank twitter team contacted me after posting this to say that the research was “conducted amongst 1038 Australians aged 18 and over. The data was weighted to the latest population estimates sourced from the ABS”. Thanks guys – I would still question this figure and suggest that extrapolating this number is a big leap – but I get what you are saying, we are all owed money by our mates – pay up).
