I would like to say a big thanks you to Deb (and Lala), Juanita and generous local citizen, Steve Sinclair for lending a hand at the Salvation Army booth in Edge Hill, Cairns yesterday. We spent a few hours raising money, Deb rattled the cages of the local latte set and Lala the wonder dog looked cute to make sure people donated as much as they could afford. Overall we raised about $600. So a good effort all round.
Like a lot of places, Cairns has problems with homelessness and people struggling to make ends meet financially. Every penny helps, so I really encourage everyone to support the Salvos. They have been knocking on doors and rattling the tin for many, many years. Remember people manning the booths and knocking on doors are volunteers, 100% of the money raised is used by the Salvation Army.
