What would your business look like if you planned for the next 100 years? There is an incredible power that comes with having a 100 year strategy, even if you’re not going to be here for all of it.
In the video below I share my own experience and a big realisation that came from working for a company that had developed their own 100 year plan.
It’s not really about the visionary thinking, although that part is pretty cool. The real value is the culture it creates when an organisation starts asking bigger questions, the kind of questions you have to ask if you genuinely want to be around in 100 years.
This idea has fascinated me for 30 years, ever since I worked for a Japanese shipping company called NYK, who didn’t just talk about a 100 year plan, they built one, and they actioned it.
I’ve been pondering it ever since, and only recently did the penny drop on what the 100 year plan is really doing behind the scenes. And that’s what I’m sharing in this video. The real might of the 100 year plan is just how powerful it is at creating a company wide culture – and it’s the culture that transforms the organisation, that keeps it evolving and adapting in a cohesive way.
If you feel like a little Christmas deep thinking, have a watch. It might spark something for your organisation, or even your own version of a 100 year plan for you!
Cheers,
Andrew
