Monday, November 10th, 2008

Publishers of Andrew Griffiths 101 series, Allen & Unwin, have just announced that a contract has been signed for the books to be translated and published in Vietnam in 2009. This adds to a constantly growing list of countries where the 101 series have been republished and it reinforces Andrew’s position as a global expert in the field of small business.

101 Ways to Sell More of Anything to Anyone….May 2009

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

I am very pleased to announce the latest book in the 101 series is in the final stages of production. 101 Ways to Sell More of Anything to Anyone is the next logical inclusion in the series which so far covers everything from marketing to customer service, advertising to boosting your business and network marketing to balancing your business and your life.

101 Ways to Sell More of Anything to Anyone has been written to provide virtually anyone in a sales role with some great skills and techniques to improve their results. As with all of the books I write, there is a strong focus on providing tips that are simple to implement, quick to action with little or no cost and and most importantly of all – they work. I also use many practical examples drawn from my own experiences in the world of sales.

I have had the pleasure of selling either products or services or both in the following roles (most as a business owner) during the past 25 years -

  • Commercial diver
  • Dive School owner and retailer
  • Encyclopaedia door to door salesman
  • International Sales Manger for a large Japanese Shipping Company
  • Selling outdoor advertising and magazine advertising
  • Selling my own professional services in the public relations and marketing fields.
  • Newsboy (age 7) – on the streets of Perth.

I think we all sell something most of our lives, but it sure becomes a lot easier if you know some of the tricks of the trade.

This book is certainly not designed to create “slick” sales people. That is never my aim and in fact I can’t stand those kind of sales people. What it will do is show you how to sell properly and I can guarantee that if you follow just a handful of my tips your sales will improve dramatically. In the coming few years that is going to be very important.

So please watch this site – or the Allen & Unwin site (www.allenandunwin.com.au) for specific details on the publication date – which is currently planned for May 2009.

NEWS FLASH – Andrew Griffiths signs contract for autobiography with international publisher – Simon & Schuster

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Well known Australian author, Andrew Griffiths, has pulled off an international coup by signing a major publishing contract with one of the worlds biggest publishing groups, Simon & Schuster.

Mr Griffiths already has 7 business building books published with leading Australian publisher Allen & Unwin. These are sold in over 45 countries around the world and he has another two books in the highly successful “101 ways series” due for release next year.

Mr Griffiths explained the deal with Simon & Schuster “I have been wanting to broaden my writing and diversify out of business writing and head more into inspirational and motivational work. I am on a mission to reach as many people around the world as I can. I want to inspire others and show them that where you come from doesn’t matter a bit, but where you are heading does. Executives from Simon & Schuster were at a conference where I was presenting and they were impressed by my upbringing and the fact that I had overcome quite a lot of adversity in my life and achieved a lot. After several months of negotiation with them and several other leading publishers I signed a contract to write my autobiography”.

Simon & Schuster are owned by the US based media company, CBS. They have operations in Australia, the United Kingdom and the USA. Their stable of authors is a who’s who in the international literary world – including Stephen King, Kathy Reich and Judi Picoult to mention a few. CBS also produce many hugely successful talk shows in the USA including the Oprah Winfrey Show and Dr Phil.

Mr Griffiths explained about the book that he is writing for Simon & Schuster “I am calling it the ME MYTH, based on a philosophy that I have regarding personal growth. I believe that we have become too focused inwards in just about every aspect of our lives. Once we learn to stop focusing inwards and start focusing outwards, we really do grow and contribute as human beings. That to me is the key personal growth. I will be illustrating this with my own life experiences, that have been bizarre in many ways. This is going to be a very motivating and inspiring book – not a misery memoir”.

The ME MYTH will be published in Australia in September 2009. Simon & Schuster will be promoting the title as one of their biggest releases for the year and it is expected to have strong support within the retail book sellers where Andrew is considered one of the most successful and popular authors in Australia.

Providing a safe environment for street kids got one step closer last night…

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Well last night was a very big night in Cairns. I was fortunate enough to be the MC of a fundraising event for Harald’s House (www.haraldshouse.com), a local initiative to raise $1 million to build an emergency accommodation house for street kids in Cairns. The founder of Harald’s House, Harald Falge, has been feeding street kids for almost 20 years and in an emotive presentation last night he told how his “customers” have been as young as 4. Hard to believe isn’t it?

Well 250 people got together at a mammoth gala event, held at the Cairns Sebel Hotel. Collectively we raised about $30,000. Not a bad nights work at all and it took the total raised so far over the $500,000 mark. There are too many people to thank individually here – but there were about 80 companies that got behind this event and the concept as a whole. An event of this size really is a huge project and I was very proud to see so many people having such a blast.

So to everyone involved, as organisers, sponsors, donors or participants on the night – thank you!!!

Now we have another $500,000 to raise…..and I have absolutely no doubt that the people of Cairns will make this a reality.

Cheers,

AG

Blog Action Day 2008 Poverty

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

On October 15th bloggers everywhere published posts that discuss poverty in some way. By all posting on the same day we aim to change the conversation that day, to raise awareness, start a global discussion and add momentum to an important cause.

Every blogger has a unique voice, audience and perspective. By speaking to their readers on topic about an important issue we can discuss global issues like poverty in a new and hugely multi-faceted way. And from discussion springs action.
