From my observations, most authors are pretty lousy at taking advantage of the books they write and publish. This means that their dream of writing a book and leveraging it to build their profile, create opportunities and ultimately grow their business, never get’s realised – and it has little to do with the quality of the book and everything to do with how they proactively leverage being an author.
Leveraging a book is not as straight forward as people would think. That’s why most authors draw a blank the day their books arrive. They look at the boxes sitting in the corner of their office and give a few out to friends and clients and then start wondering what to do next.
