Scott Pape (The Barefoot Investor) has become a writing phenomenon with the release of his straight talking financial advice books. Clearly it shows just how needed practical and relevant information was needed when it comes to financial advice for the everyday person. His main book, The Barefoot Investor is hugely successful – having sold over a million copies (a very rare thing for an Australian publisher). In this interview, Scott shares some of his views on writing, being an author and marketing yourself as an author. And of course his new book has just been realised – The Barefoot Investor for Families.
Here are some of the things discussed on show, The Garret:
- Possibly the most trouble I’ve ever got myself into with a column … (8:03)
- Behind the scenes of my “disruptive” book deal: how I played hardball with the publishers … and surprised them with something the industry had never seen before (10:20)
- A sneak peek at the next book I plan to write (15:18)
- My #1 tip for aspiring authors (21:50)
- Why I don’t think writers should bother with social media (23:45)
- How did my life change after selling a million books? (24:43)
- How long does it take me to write a book? (25:35)
- What are my international plans for the Barefoot Investor? (28:00)
Cheers,
Andrew
