I recently had the great pleasure of being interviewed by PR legend and author of “From Unknown to Expert “, Catriona Pollard. We had a great chat about what it takes to build your profile and I shared some of the strategies I have used to build my profile both in Australia and internationally. All you have to do is click on the video above, it’s only a few minutes. Enjoy.

Just say yes! Loved this video Andrew. Writing a book was certainly a challenge and I often tortured myself with the thought “Is anyone going to read this crap?” Luckily, they are reading it and letting me know the difference it’s making to how they’re living their life. It takes courage to connect. Thanks for your wise words and yes, I’ve got lots of grey hair.
Thanks for sharing your experience Victoria – nice for me to have been a part of it – and yes, the real pay off is the difference you are making to people’s lives. Wonderful stuff – and no a grey hair in site! Cheers – Andrew X
Love the question Catriona, and love your three responses Andrew – honest, clear and smack on the money . A quick follow-up question to your first response (having a book was the first big lever which raised your profile) – did having a professional / big-name publisher make a difference to upping your profile? That is to say, could you have achieved the same results with a self-published effort?
Hey Mark – great question. When my first book came out, 16 years back, self publishing was really frowned upon, most self published books really were crap. Today it is a different world. I think the two things I realised from the start were that my books were leveraging tools, not revenue makers and secondly, that it was entirely up to me to drive the leveraging. Today, self published books can achieve the same results – maybe not the same international reach, but with Amazon, that has changed as well. People get caught up on trying to sell a million books, as opposed to creating a million new opportunities that can generate a lot more. Thanks for the question Mate – Cheers – Andrew
