Not every invention is an iphone app – check out this 13 year old Masai boy from Nairobi

Innovation comes about by necessity and this 13 year old boy had a problem that was certainly not typical of most boys his age. Richard Turere developed an invention to stop lions eating his family’s herd of cows. Check out his story – and how this invention is helping to make his dreams come true.

The Masai are an extraordinary people – I saw a BBC documentary today about a young Masai warrior who is leading conservation efforts to save lions. Sure makes coming up with an app to help me keep track of my receipts a little less important I might add.
