The first step toward getting somewhere
is to decide that you’re not going to stay
where you are.
You’re a product of your environment.
So choose an environment
that will best develop you toward your goals.
Analyze your life in terms of your environment.
Are the things around you helping you toward
your success or are they holding you back?
Your world today is a living expression of how
you are using and have used your mind.
It’s something that you can change at any time.
You don’t have to remain a captive of your environment.
Don’t say “If I could change, I would change,”
say “I can change, and I will change.”
One could say “change is good for time”
Andrew, what do you suggest would be a starting point to make that change from ones current environment?
Cheers
Geoff
Hi Geoff,
Great line! I love change and I sincerely think we are in the AGE OF CHANGE. If you can’t keep up look out, because the kids coming through are amazing able to deal with constant change and in fact they expect it.
To me the best place to start is with a very clear picture on where you want to go. For example I have decided that at some time in my near future I will buy a Maserati (why? I have no idea but it is what I want). A couple of years ago this dream manifested and I put a picture of the latest Maserati on my door at home so I could see it every time I walked in and out. I visited the Maserati dealership in Sydney and had a look around and picked up the latest brochure. As fate would have it I lent a friend my current car and he had a nasty prang resulting in the car being well and truly written off. Now I need a new car and for the first time I realise that I am pretty darn close to getting that Maserati and if I really wanted it I could stretch myself and buy it. I have decided that I don’t want to do that now, I will wait a little while but I have this realisation that this seemingly impossible dream is now well and truly within my grasp. Sorry to make this such a long winded response, but for me, everytime I have painted a very clear picture of something that I want I get it. It is very powerful.
So perhaps the best place for you to start is with you own clear picture on how you want your life to look and feel and this will in itself start the change (or the time) process.
I hope this helps. Thanks for the stimulating thoughts. All the best,
Andrew
Andrew, thanks for you insight.
So, as I see it, painting a picture is easy, the executing component becomes this magical mystery formula, a formula I have yet to find. I’ve attempted a start but failed miserably, currently in the throws of starting again. This time though my picture is far less in size and a more practical, realistic and achievable picture.
Andrew, in one of your earlier blogs you suggested to read a book called ‘How to win friends & influence people’, after a week of tracking a copy down I have now started to read it and can I say it’s impressive and very motivating. Thanks for your suggestion. In combination with reading your books I’m gaining daily confidence to build this picture and find this mystical successful business formula.
Maserati hey, to help you along I have placed picture of Maserati’s latest release on your work desk, I hope it inspires you, god knows it inspired me when I saw it…..
Cheers
Geoff
